A benefit concert to support homeless animals took part on May 23th 2010.

This event had been organized by the St.Petersburg Social organization for rescuing homeless animals “Help to Cats Service”.

The purpose of this action was to draw the attention of authorities, business to the problems of homeless animals. An appeal for humane attitude and help in setting up the first cats’ asylum/temporary sojourn in the city.

Abandoned, physically and morally abused, maimed by the people whose moral qualities leave much to be desired, the small helpless creatures scream to us, our attention. Some of them often need some temporary place to stay before they find a proper home.

There are no cats’ asylums in the city so far. All the existing asylums, sterilization programme and some organisations are homeless dogs problem-oriented, though it is cats who protect the city from wild rodents, carriers of infections passed to people.

By means of this action, we would like to attract the people who really can provide help in organisation and maintenance of the first St.Petersburg cats asylum. This can give a chance to young and grown up abandoned God’s creature to acquire home and loving owners. We are humans, aren’t we, and civilized, too.

The action enabled us to raise some money which partially covered the concert expenditure. We think the action was quite fruitful, since there were present mass media people, our partners and general public witnessing organisation’s deeds, coming to know its needs, further spreading the information about the organisation. What’s most important is it made people think we are all responsible for what happens to homeless animals.

We were glad to see some of our friends and partners like “Komsomol’skaya pravda” paper, “Sobachi ostrov” magazine, Olga Aver’yanova, General director of a vet clinic “Olma”, Andrei Markov, “GUNP” magazine and others.

We could like to express special appreciation to the organizers of the event: director Dar’ia Vorob’eva, deputy-director T.Loseva, Yaninsky country cultural and sports leisure centre, “Mega-Most” and “Ogneny Lev” advertising agencies and others. We are very grateful to the artists participating in this concert which made thic show possible at all: Olga andreeve, Alexandr Volkov, Oksana Bogomazova, Anastasia Shangrina — soloists of Pavlovsky emperor’s opera House;  Anastasia Pitel’, Andrei Chekaev — soloists if Musical comedy theatre; Alexandr Zuev, Alexei Korneenko, Aleksei Peregudin (laureates of Guitar contests) from Alexandr Senushin’s guitar school; “Feeria” theatre workshop. We are also very grateful to children’s artistic schools for the children’s pictures we exhibited and gave away for donation.
