Sojourn is a temporary place of staying for homeless animals and animals in trouble.

What we mean is the so-called ‘condemned’ animals intercepted on the way to be put down, newly-borns found in card boxes and plastic bags at rubbish fields, those to be taken home after a complicated treatment at a clinic or simply thrown out of homes.

Sometimes just a day of sojourn can determine living creatures’ fate.

There are innumerable neglected animals needing a sojourn while charitable organizations of St.-Petersburg simply have no resources to help then all. That is why the bulk of these miserable creatures stays unnoticeable which is pretty deplorable for a civilized society.

It often happens that living conditions and way of life (rental apartment, living at a hostel, etc. business trips, no spare time, etc.) make it impossible for a person to have a pet on a permanent basis, though the person would be glad to do so. Sojourn of an animal is a best chance to get pleasure out of being in touch with an animal, to understand one’s possibilities, and certainly to give a chance to a miserable creature.

Guardians of the animals on the sojourn (private and legal entities) take care of them under all circumstances, find adopters, if there is need — provide with food, litter and all the necessary things.

In spite of constant and bad need of sojourn it means a very serious step for the people ready to help the miserable creatures as the animals are given to the guardian on the basis of an agreement which determines his responsibility for the animal’s health (the animal should be examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated or had a course of antiserum), care etc.

Alcohol and drug addicts, as well as demented and sick (for instance, highly allergic) people must not take animals for sojourn.

We do as much as we can to find people who are ready to adopt animals on a temporary basis. We also propagate people for humane and kind attitude to everything having life. Sometimes we can pay for the work from the donated finances.

We urge all the people to unite and solve the issue of homeless animals which results in putting more force into providing help to the living beings needing it so much.
